Choosing a nutritionist can be as confusing as the topic of nutrition itself!  It is important to know the advice you receive from your Nutritionist is current and sound.  One way to ensure this is to choose a “Registered Dietitian or RD.”

Registered Dietitians are uniquely qualified individuals who have completed an accredited four-year undergraduate degree in nutrition/dietetics, and accredited 6-12 month practical experience, pass a national exam, and maintain their RD credential through at least 75 hours of required continuing education every five years.

Their training encompasses a broad curriculum, including a strong concentration in the sciences and nutrition-specific courses which enables RD’s to understand the science behind the practical advice they translate to their clients and patients.  They are experts not only in nutrition for health, but also Medical Nutrition Therapy, an important part of care for those with special conditions.
